ABOUT ME

Hi there! Thank you for stopping by – I am so glad you are here. My name is Wendy, and I am a Botanical Mixed Media Artist, predominantly working with watercolours, and Surface Pattern Designer from Brisbane, Australia. I have not always been a part of the creative community. I have a background in engineering and have been working full time as a Metallurgist and/or Process Engineer since 2017.

I grew up drawing and creating when I was younger but sadly left that behind when I entered high school and university. I rekindled my relationship with drawing back in 2019 and fell in love with the world of nature, especially flowers!

I came across watercolour in 2022 and fell in love with the medium and how I could harness its unique qualities to bring out the beauty I see in nature. I mainly use Winsor & Newton watercolour paints for my paintings but have been migrating towards handmade paints as I love the unique characteristics and textures of each pigment and paint.

My love and passion for learning more about the world of nature and sharing the beauty of flowers with others grew stronger and I knew I wanted to pursue this path and work towards creating a life as an artist and running a small business of my own. I am so excited for this new dream and chapter of my life and want to share more about this journey with others alongside sharing my art.

I hope by sharing more about my journey and love of flowers I can inspire others to rekindle their relationship to creativity and find more joy in life from creating art. I believe we are all born creative - as Pablo Picasso says, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up".

I have also recently developed an interest in creating repeat patterns where I start off with black ink illustrations and move to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to create my patterns. I have since finished my first two pattern collections and will continue to create pattern collections based on themes that flow through - keep your eyes peeled for upcoming collections!

MY VISION

I believe we are all innately creative and have the power to create the life we want and make the world a more beautiful place to help inspire others to connect to their creativity.

My dream is to continue sharing my love of flowers through art and continue to make the beauty I see in the world. I'd love to be able to share my art around the world through my own line of fine art prints, stationery and accessories. I would love to collaborate with brands and companies to help spread the gift of creativity and beauty of the world we live in.
