The Feelings We’re Really Chasing

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Tony Robbins, and every time I do, I find myself feeling motivated with so much clarity and I love to start my days feeling that way. One talk I watched recently was all about happiness and I really loved it.
He spoke about how so many of the things we chase — money, love, success, achievements — are really just things we believe will change how we feel. We don’t actually want the thing itself… we want the feeling we think it will give us.
And how many times have we worked so hard toward a goal, only to reach it and think, “Is that it?” The happiness dissipates, and suddenly we’re working towards the next goal.
What we get doesn’t create happiness — who we become does.
The real purpose of a goal isn’t just the outcome, but how it shapes us along the way. And the emotions we’re hoping to feel “someday” — peace, joy, confidence, fulfillment — are actually available to us right now, if we learn how to access them.
One of the most powerful things he shared was how much our actions and bodies influence our emotions. Our choices, our facial expressions, our movement — all of it affects how we feel. When we make the same choices and keep our body in the same tense, tired state, we keep creating the same emotional patterns. But when we shift our actions and body — our inner state changes too.
Success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure. You can be abundant and still feel empty. You can be loved and still not feel love.
That’s why learning to celebrate the small, good things in our lives matters so much. When we don’t allow ourselves to feel joy or celebrate small wins, we train our brains to never feel too happy.
“You don’t need an excuse to feel good.”
Even on frustrating days. Even when life feels uncertain. Even when goals are still far away.
Because when we feel better, we show up better — and that’s when real change starts to happen. 🌿
