Studio Notes: Learning to Let Go of the Plan

Hi friends,
I hope you’ve been well.
As someone who loves moving through the day with efficiency, following a schedule and ticking off my to-do list, this season of life continues to humble and teach me.
At first, I found myself frustrated whenever things didn't go to plan. Workouts happened three hours later than I'd intended. Runs were cut short. I barely found time to work on my art business and the chores seemed to roll over to the next day. There were plenty of moments that simply couldn't be planned for.
I realised that constantly waiting for my hands to be free or hoping the day would unfold the way I'd imagined was only creating more stress. I'm slowly learning that this chapter is asking me to practise patience and surrender.
Rather than thinking, "When can I get this done?" I'm trying to remind myself, "My baby needs me more right now." And the truth is, there will never be another season quite like this one. There will never be another time when he'll need me this much or when we'll spend this much time together.
The way he lights up when he wakes from a nap and sees me. The laughs when I sing to him. The huge smile when he spots me from across the room. These are the moments I’d miss while focusing on my to-do list.
So, the art business can wait another day. The five-minute run was enough. The ten-minute tidy was enough.
If you're in a season where life isn't going quite as planned, I hope this reminds you to embrace where you are and look for the special moments and tiny pockets of joy that are so easy to overlook.
